The exhibition entitled "Speaking rocks - the building history of the Sárospatak castle" can be seen in the 19th century yard corridor. The placement of the rocks make it possible for the visitors to see the recarving and secondary use of the rokcs.
Late renaissance stone carvings
The exhibition displays the different window types in their state at the excavation. The frontal sketches of the Red Tower interpret the original position of the stone frames.

The place of the exhibition provides the chance for the visitor to - by looking through the window - see the replica, whilst he can almost touch the original renaissance carving and its all fine details by hand. The close inspection is fantastic, not only on account of the measures, but because the small elements - carvers' marks, rosettes, grapes, plants, animals etc. - can only be seen from anigh. The ornamentation of the rocks in many cases refer to Biblical symbols and ancient elements.

The exhibition reveals the degree of the destruction of the carvings and confirms the change of the rocks. It also authenticates the 10 year-old stone sculptor-restorer activity.
