The entrance of the underground mine museum is indicated from afar off by the artwork of István Szabó. The alarm pole standing at the left hans side used to indicate the beginning and end of the underground work (and the emergencies). The bell towere standing on the right was brought here from the mining compound of Székvölgy.
The mine was deepened in 1937, so that the coal pillars of the József mine could be mined out. The mine had been in operation till 1951 and produced 19.500.000 q of coals. In the 280 meters long holes the visitors might get a thorough knowledge of the mine and its technical eqipments.
In the underground mine system museological mining appliances represent the coal mining of the 19-20th century.
Especially valuable are the appliences of the 1960'ies, such as the hand-held and mechanical airing device, the P-3 chain drawing, the "B" scratch device, the cylindrical mining machine /KWB-3D3/, the hidasi-kind small loader, the electric drilling machine, the Kóta kind loader, the Gullick hydraulic shield and the Siemens-vitla.
