Our exhibition opened in 1983. It can be separated to six different units. The history of the Hungarian Geographic Association is displayed in one of them. The visitors may follow the journey of the 28 most important Hungarian travelers.
Among the travelers of the 13-14th century the journey of Frater Julianus in 1235, Móric Benyovszky Asian, American, and journeys in Madagascar are presented. The memoires of János Sajnovics and Miksa Hell travel to Lapland in 1768-69 and the deeds of the Hungarian missionaries in South America are represented.
In the third ward we introduce our famous Asia researchers. The most important of them was the founder of Tibetology: Sándor Kőrösi Csoma (1784-1842). The results of the Széchenyi-Lóczy expedition draw a lot of attention as well. Jenő Csolnoky 1896-98 traveled to China, Gyula Prinz went to Tien-San 1906-09 and Antal Reguly (1819-1858) did cartography works on the East-Ural.
In the fourth ward among the researchers of the 19th century László Magyar (1818-1864) Africa researcher, who explored the Lakes Rudolf and Stefania, Sámuel Teleki (1845-1916) who did his works among the population of the Congo Basin, and the memoirs of Emil Torday (1875-1931) are shown for the audience. Among the journeys of the researchers of America and Oceania János Xantus (1825-1894) collector of material of natural sciences, and the work of Lajos Bíró (1856-1931) zoologist researcher are interesting.
The researchers of the 20th century are presented in a separate ward. Among them László Almásy (1895-1951), the leader of the Sahara expedition in 1933, the journey of Aurél Stein (1862-1943) on mainland Asia, and the excellent Islam scholar, Gyula Germanus (1884-1979) left significant material for us. On the corridor the trophies and materials of our hunter travellers Kálmán Kittenberger (1881-1958), Zsigmond Széchenyi (1898-1967), and László Sáska are displayed. (1890-1978),
