The Szatmári Museum of Mátészalka is the center of the spiritual and material heritage of the region.
Peasent carts of Szatmár
The biggest carriage collection of Middle Europe can be seen here. Almost a hundred carts are shown illustrating the means of transport of the vernacular and civic population. The carts are shown in a coach house divided into three parts.

The most interesting pieces are the carts of Szatmár made with 'snake ironwork', the buggies, and special carts like the suitor cart, the Károlyi cart, the hunting cart, the fire engine cart, the butcher cart, the Kölber Type carriage, the Viktória carriage of the Grassalkovich family, the Baroque mourning Cziráky carriage.

The forgery of Cégénydányád is also displayed at our permanent exhibition beside the tools of farming, the wheelwright, viniculture, and bee keeping.

In the main building, the audience may see woodcarvings from Szatmár-Bereg, and permanent exhibitions present the shoemaking of Szatmár, interior and ornamentation of the vernacular people beside the media products of Mátészalka. The mineral exhibition is also held in the main building.
