Our exhibition in the native house of Dániel Berzsenyi recalls the famous poet's childhood, youth and adolescent marriage years spent in Sömjén. This means the source of his poetry, that is, the historical atmosphere of the region including the beauty of the unforgettable scenery.
Inside the museum
In the documents of the family appears the nobility (Family Berzsenyi, Thulmon and Takács from Duka, a village in the neighbourhood of Egyházashetye) proudly bearing the rich traditions. Berzsenyi's poetry was also inspired by the family's desire to increase posession, loyalty to the king and their traditional culture. The shock of the patriarchical lifestyle, the rebirth of the landowners' value can be followed in the poems of Berzsenyi.
