The photographer Müller Miklós is one of the significant figures of Hungarian socio-photo art. He was born on 18, April 1913 in Orosháza. He attended primary school in Orosháza, secondary school in Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely.
He received a camera at age 13 and began to take pictures. In the fall of 1931, he enrolled the University of Szeged. His years at the university greatly affected his life since he decided then to deal with photography. After he was acquainted with the members of the Collage of Szeged, Radnóti Miklós, Ortutay Gyula, Baróti Dezső, Tolnay Gábor, Buday György, he began to take the so-called socio-photos.
After receiving his doctorate, he began to work in his father’s office in Orosháza. At that time, he was a good friend of the painter Maronyák József.
He left the town of his birth and moved to Budapest in the Fall of 1937 where he began to work as a lawyer. He published a book with Ortutay titled ’The Life of our Peasantry’. In October 1937, he took part at the International Photo Exhibition of Budapest. In 1938, he went abroad because of the war atmosphere and anti-Semitism. He spend 1 year in Paris then he wanted to go to Spain but only went as far as Portugal. From there he went to Morocco, and then he never returned to Hungary. In 1944, he published a book in Madrid. In 1947, he traveled to the Spanish coasts to his friend Fernando Vela and decided to stay with his family.
The photo artist Müller Miklós loved to take photos of the Spanish coast, land and people. The villages are reborn in his pictures; his photos always show his creativity. His pictures are published in albums, displayed at exhibitions and in print in magazines all over the world.
In 1993 on his 80th birthday, the town of his birth organized an exhibition of his works that was opened by Göncz Árpád, the president of Hungary who gave the Officer Cross of the Hungarian Republic to the 85-year old artist.
