The buildings and their interiors in the Museum Village of Sóstó present a unique mixture of folk architecture unique at the Hungarian speaking area. Different types of houses are varied in the village.
The architecture of The Great Hungarian Planes and the area of the River Szamos affected that of the North Transtiszanian area. We show the architecture of the small regions of the Nyírség, Szatmári, Rétközi, Beregi and Nyír that were affected by them differently.
Around 100 objects form an authentic settlement concerning the buildings and structure. The living quarters and the barns built in the yards are accompanied with several other smaller structures. Just like in real villages, the cemetery is also present along with the gypsy buildings at the end of the village.
The main street connects the houses on a 7,5 hectare territory where the houses are grouped according to the social rank of the owners. Plants and trees typical of the varied regions surround the houses.
