Storages of the Budapest Historic Museum preserved one of the largest archaeology collections in Hungary. An archaeology collection with millions of objects from ancient times to the Original Settlement is located in the Aquincum Museum.

The Spectacle Collection was set up with the objective to show as many pieces formerly difficult to access as possible to the audience. The Aquincum Museum provides this opportunity in the new exhibition building reconstructed in 2007-2008.

The Spectacle Collection guides the visitors through the history of Budapest and Aquincum in chronological and thematic order. The objects are set up on simple lit shelves, just like in a real storage. The showing, taking the floorspace into consideration, includes 1200 objects. Inscription and shelf registers help in orientation. Outstanding objects are on shown on digital screens from various points of views.

The inside of the Spectacle Collection also provides opportunity for one in a while changing the collection so the newly excavated finds are shown as soon as possible.
