The Kass exhibition can be taken for an oeuvre exhibition since all publications owned by the Somogyi Library, which means that except for one all book illustrations, are shown in 16 exhibition cases. Beside the illustrations, we also show book designs and the record sleeve of Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons'. Kass's illustrations are represented mostly by children book illustrations from pull out books for babies to school books made for applied arts. The material shown does not follow chronological order, but it is important to notice that the first book illustrated by Kass is from 1952 while the last one was published by the Mosaic Press in 2006.
A taste of the exhibition
Considering the gender, the material shown is made up of several layers: the books with the illustrations inside used in libraries bring forth the art of János Kass. There are music sheets, real illustrations, but bibliophile publications, mini-books are also present in great number. A few examples of illustrations by János Kass made for literature: Gajdar 'Timur and his Band', Theodot Fontane, Lorca, Madách, Gárdonyi's 'Motley Tales'. A speciality is that we show several original illustrations often with the handwriting of the artist along with orders of the mint and the book designer on a piece. Another interesting feature is that János Kass made a new illustration to every one of the new publications. Thus, every new issue shed light changes on Kass's approach to the given literary work, as well as his own illustration.

The graphic artist Ferenc Töreky's detailed works are related to the Kass Showing in term of their delicacy. One of the simplest relations is the page made in honour of János Kass. It is in a prestigious group with 'Honour to Van Gogh', 'Honour to Gaugin' and 'Honour to Cézanne'. The 85-year-old Ferenc Töreky has seen a rich career with diverse oeuvre as member of a grand generation who could express his inner world with the language of communion and depth.

Cards, books, calendars, applied graphic works, independent pages and gobelin designs characterize his art. The exhibition at the Kass Gallery presents fine pastels in the eight-page series 'Song of Songs', the world of the 'Four Seasons' that came to life in pictures relived by Töreky. The black and white graphics made with fine lines for manifold associations provide interesting contrast among other graphics.
