The painter József Breznai graduated from collage in 1939 with golden medal. He was the student of István Szőnyi and Ágost Benkhard. From 1939 to 1947 he was scholar in Rome three times. He held 25 one-man exhibitions from 1946 until now, the most important at the Adolf Fényes Room (1953), at the Arts Hall (1972, 1982), Paris (1962), Düsseldorf (1964), Hanover (1966), Uppsala (1968), Brussels (1971), Munich (1972), Milano (1974) and Parma (1979). In 1942 he was awarded with the Szinnyei Prize, in 1953 the Munkácsy Prize; in 1958 he received the István Csók Medal. He won international prizes in 1961 in France, in 1964 in Belgium, in 1978 in Italy.
Breznay József - Pannóniai család
His pictures are unique confessions on family, motherhood, love, contemplation, but he was also interested in landscapes, still-lives and mythological stories. He mostly gives modern representations of the latest. His open approach included a number of formal results of modern painting.
