The building served as a home for children from 1945 until its nationalization in 1996. The building of the castle was commissioned to Pollack Mihály (1773-1855), friend of the family, by the Count Festetics Antal (1764-1853). It was under construction from 1815 to 1819. The castle was surrounded by the most significant English garden of the country.
