The museum established in 1959 functions in the mansion of the Esterházy-family. In the 18th century the aristocrat family turned the medieval castle into a baroque mansion. The representative baroque mansion gained its present form in the 17th and 18th centuries, according to the sketches of architect Franz Anton.
