The Eminent Artist Piroska Szántó (Kiskunfélegyháza, 1913 - Budapest, 1998) who received the Munkácsy- and the Kossuth Prizes decided before her death to inherit most of her works to the Szombathely Gallery. The purpose of the artist was to have her flat, where she lived with her husband the poet István Vas, converted into a memorial museum and have the Gallery of Szombathely as the maintainer of the heritage.
