The exhibition - of nearly one hundred and fifty square meters and two halls - represents the history of meat industry right from the times of the Hungarian conquest.
Entering the museum the visitor will face a map of Europe, which indicates the directions and extension of the medieval runt-export. The tableaus will help them learn about the animals kept for slaughtering.
After a short summary the glass-cases will demonstrate the compounds and cutting up of the various kinds of meat. The exhibition does not miss to give an introduction of the flesher gild organization that was well established as early as in the 14th century. The gild organizations played an important role in the supervision of the hygienic and sales methods of the industry.
In 1872 the Butcher Industry Society was formed, which later, in 1886, became an industry corporation. These corporations functioned as representative organs of the profession.
The hand-held instruments, cutting tools and their improvement are also demonstrated. The meat commerce and the introduction of famous butchers cannot be missed out, either.
my Finally - at the ending section of the first hall - we can look into the relationship of the Vet Hygiene Service and the meat industry, the research activities and literature of the National Meat Industry Research Institute from the second half of the 19th century.
In the second hall we will find two unique machines from the middle of the 19th century (Heikena 50 and a cutter), and a butchery of the 1870'ies, and other tools.
By the side of the museum we exhibit various meat processing machines and appliances. The double-decker pig transporting railway carriage is also found here.
