Over five hundred pieces of the coin collection of the museum are displayed at the 'Coins of Fire-fighting and Insignia Exhibition'.
Hungarian official, jubilee, federal and several other coins and plaques beginning from the end of the 1800s are placed next to the first Hungarian fire-fighting coin. Beside the honors of the past, medals and insignia of nowadays are also presented at the exhibition.
The first coins known in connection with fire-fighting are the reminders of large fires outside of Hungary. Fire departments minted coins to award those who did an outstanding job when extinguishing fire, or to award those who served with dignity as a fire-fighter until their retirement. Coins were also minted in memory of momentous anniversaries and events in the life of the legislature.
The Firefighter Museum has collected the Hungarian and foreign coins in connection with fire-fighting since its foundation 50 years ago. The earliest pieces of our collection are reminders of cases of fires. The 'grandfather' of the Hungarian fire-fighting coins is displayed beside those coins that were awarded as the recognition of the years spent in duty.
Coins of jubilee and coins in memory of consecration of flags, plaques awarded at competitions of fire-fighters, and coins after the political change-over are displayed.
