The honey-cake and wax-chandler workshop of the Schmidt family is reconstructed in the first ward of the Country House. The origin of the trade of the Schmidts goes back to the age of Marie-Teresa. The family moved from Germany to Homonna, and then to Pécsvárad in 1889.
Honey cake making and wax-chandlering was inseparable. Milk-loaf was retrieved of the honey, and candles of the wax. The warm wax was poured on equally long thread that was tied on vertically placed wheals. While the wheal was being turned the wax was poured on it.
The population of Kisújbánya was engaged in making wooden equipments. The wooden clogs, popular among the German population, was also made of cherry trees. The agricultural equipments were made of beech, maple, and sycamore trees.
The viniculture was flourishing around Mecseknádasd in 1889-95, but a devastating epidemic ended it all. The tools of the coopers, different types of planes, knives, etc. are displayed in the second ward of the Country House.
The exhibition of the works of the potters of Mecseknádasd-Óbánya is shown in the third ward. Originally Mecsekná¬dasd was the center of this trade, and only from the beginning of the 20th century do the potters of Óbánya come to the front.
The exhibition that shows the vernacular trades include the furniture of the Germans of Baranya. The taste of the Germans of this area was influenced by the Hungarians and other ethnic groups. Their furnishing has several similar features in its form, in the colors used, and the ornaments as well.
