The rich collection of the material of ethnography, history of industry, and agriculture permits the visitors to peep into the lives of the local population.
Szany is a small town in the Rába land. Its famous agriculture, stock-farming defined the lifestyle and the feature of work at the area.
The first time the name of Zayan is mentioned was on a charter from 1398. It belonged to the episcopate of Győr. It seems natural that following their master the whole village took on the Catholic religion which affected their everyday lives. The religion similarly affected the national costume. The catholic liturgy ordained a different costume for the priest at the special celebrations. The women dressed accordingly so the clothing style also became richer which is the main interest of our collection.
