Soltszentimre is first mentioned by official papers originating in 1408. Its name used today was given it in 1922.
A taste of the exhibition
The first part of the name derives from the name of the youngest son of Árpád (the grand grand father of king St. Stefan) - Zoltán (Zoléta, Solt). The last part of the name derives from the name of Prince St. Imre (son of Stefan). He was the protector saint of the church of the village as well. According to the traditions the medieval church, the remains of which are still seen today, was built by the king for the prince.

The settlement was probably inhabited before its first official mentioning in 1408.

Before the Hungarian contest Soltszentimre and its region probably functioned as the dwelling place of the above mentioned leader Zoltán (Zolta, Solt).

After the Hungarian contest the so-called Solt-szék (the area of Solt) separated from Fejér county at the beginning of the 14th century and functioned as an independent region up to the beginning of the Turkish occupation. (1541).

Pest-Pilis-Solt county is first mentioned in 1659. Since 1876 Kiskunság area has also belonged to this region. The first registery book of the independent Pusztaszentimre (the former name of Soltszentimre ) was stamped on 28th May 1919.

Pusztaszentimre was named to Soltszentimre in 1922.

In 1950 the region was attached to Bács - Kiskun County. The settlement belongs to this region today, too.
