The golden iconostas of Endre Rátkay is a unique experience. The visitors are amazed by its size: it is three and a half meters in height, fifteen meters long, and painted on a long golden basis. The icon arrangement is made up of 415 picture frames. It is the summary, the synthesis of the universal Hungarian culture of Rátkay.
A taste of the exhibition
The foreign visitors call the Rátkay ward a profane chapel in the middle of Europe. Rátkay was a member of the ÁTLÓK group of artists that worked on that location in 1960 and 1964. The New Atlók Artist Group formed in 2000 with the aim to preserve the traditions of their predecessors. The iconostas is located in the Gallery.
