The 100th anniversary of the death of the naturalist, zoologist Ottó Herman (1835-1914) brings various of events nationwide to honour the memory of the scientist. Nobody is left out. The Department of Natural Sciences a the Janus Pannonius Museum is to open the exhibition entitled Scientist Portrayers of Nature from Ottó Herman to Digital Photography on 5 September 2014.

The best scientific representations fulfill the scientific expectations as well. In connection with the Herman memorial year, the visitors will find works of art by renowned scientist who did not only create something phenomenal at their fields of speciality, but were also excellent painters. Ottót Herman is one of them, but we could also mention the name of the mycologist Gusztáv Moesz, the herpetologist Lajos Méhely, the hydrobiologist Jenő Daday, the ornithologist Gyula Madarász and also the researcher of spiders Imra Loksa.

Another group comprises those artists and graphic designers, who were taken to painting nature their love of nature and its research toward, like Mihály Csiby or János Pál.

The exhibition presents material selected from the Hungarian Natural History, including 100 paintings and graphics.
