The museum was founded in honor of the artist who represented Hungarian peasantry most authentically in 1897 in the house where the writer was born. Szabó Pál (1893-1970) was born in Biharugra in a poor peasant family. He spent his childhood there. The topic of his most important novels inspired by his own life show the strenuous life of the people of Biharugra.
