The Underground Railway Museum, opened in 1975, commemorates the first underground railway of the European continent. The line was inaugurated on the 2nd May 1896. In 1996, for its centenary the whole underground section of the line and the museum, as well were refurbished. continue

A taste of the exhibition
In the foreground of the museum visitors are welcome by the sign of the original city centre terminal "Gizella tér" (authentic Zsolnay tiles). Next to it on tablets which were also taken here from the Gizella tér terminal you can read the lists with the names of persons who contributed to the construction of the underground railway. continue
